Top quality Tigra Professionnel road bicycle, made in Switzerland in the late 1970s.
The Tigra name appears on many grades of frame, of which this was the top model – the ‘Professionnel’ with chrome head tube lugs, fork crown, rear quarter stays and lower fork blades. Classic French Nervex lugs are on show throughout. The bike is fitted out with a full Shimano groupset from the early days of Dura-Ace – back when the rear derailleur was still labelled as ‘Crane’. Several of the parts are the black variants – very hard to find, especially in this condition ! Front derailleur is a little newer, from the Dura-Ace EX series. The black 52/42 chainrings are in top condition, as are the brakes. Rims appear virtually unused with just the smallest amount of wear to the front brake track. Cables and bar tape are new.
Black Dura-Ace hubset (126mm) laced radially front and rear to black anodised wide tubular rims. The previous owner tells us he laced all his wheels like this. 21mm external rim width, with 28mm Wolber tyres for all-day riding comfort and stability. Regina Oro 5 speed freewheel and chain. SR seatpost (Campagnolo Nuovo Record copy), with vertical pantographing, filled in with black. Matching stem, also with horizontal pantography. Sakae Road Champion handlebar. Black Selle San Marco Concor Supercorsa saddle, in good condition with only a small abrasion on the right side. Paint and chrome is in very good condition, as are the delicate decals. No dents or cracks. There’s just a little corrosion on the top tube, but this doesn’t appear to be at all deep. All components work perfectly. All in all, a top quality, professional grade racing bike with no dents, cracks, rust or any other problems. This bike meets the entry requirements for any L’Eroica-style event.
