A seldom-seen Pogliaghi Italcorse road bike from the famous Milan workshop of Sante Pogliaghi. 48.5cm seat tube, and extremely hard to find in this smaller frame size. Serial number: 9951, as also listed on Classic Rendezvous. Also features the ‘PSM’ stamp on the other side of the seat lug, an indicator that the frame was built by or under the direct supervision of the man himself. For more information on Pogliaghi and his working style, check out the excellent summary over on the ‘loosebearings’ blog.
This Pogliaghi is replete with the original Campagnolo Record groupset, appropriate pre-CPSC straight quick releases on the hubs, and Universal Super 68 brakes and levers. Lever hoods are dry, but intact. Selle Royal Contour saddle, in black leather with stitching along the lower edge. The headset is without a logo, but appears to be a Stronglight. 100mm silver 3ttt stem, and matching 3ttt Superleggero handlebar in terrific condition (difficult to photograph, but it’s there). Silver polished Fiamme rims laced to Campagnolo Record hubs, and with NOS Wolber Neo Pro tubular tyres. If you would prefer a similar clincher wheel set, that’s also possible. In excellent condition, with original, high quality paint and decals. Chrome on the fork crown and dropouts is bright and intact. The steel tube set appears healthy. All in all, a top quality, professional grade racing bike with no dents, cracks, rust or any other problems. This bike frankly more than meets the entry requirements for any L’Eroica-style event, at which it is not very likely you will see another like it.
