Description

Occasionally one might find a Freschi frameset offered for sale, but very seldom does a ‘Supreme’ split seat tube model appear on the market. Closely related to Pogliaghi, Masi and other cult Milanese builders, these remarkable frame sets are stand out items. The split seat tube and lowered stays – actually fork blades – position the rear wheel very far forward, imparting a lively ride and a distinctive look. The down tube is sharply crimped along the middle, as are the seat stays. Chain stays are left unusually round, presumably to add stiffness. Vertical rear dropouts ensure precise wheel changes and great shifting.

The bike has been fitted out with a Campagnolo Super Record group set, with the crankset and brakes custom black anodised. Campagnolo Record shifter levers, curved, hollowed out and chrome plated by revered tuning company ICS of Switzerland. Shifter cables run internally within the down tube, and the rear pops out at the end of the chain stay with a unique style of braze-on. The same braze-on is used for the rear brake cable along the top tube.

Freschi pantographed 3ttt stem, with aero 3ttt bar. Aluminium Ofmega 1″ threaded headset. Fluted Campagnolo Super Record 27.2mm seat post, with custom lightened Selle San Marco Concor saddle (the sides have been cut down while keeping the original leather). Campagnolo Super Record front and rear derailleurs, with very rare aluminium Campagnolo six speed screw-on freewheel (in top condition. Gold Sachs chain.

System wheel set is from cult French manufacturer Roval, looking very much like the inspiration for the later Shamal wheel set. Featuring deep silver rims, hidden nipples with bladed straight pull spokes, and a cool hi-lo rear hub design. 18 spokes front / 16 spokes rear. Wheels in top condition with very few signs of use. Vintage Continental tubular tyres, Sprinter on the front and Competition on the rear. Resin Modolo Kronos brake levers, the top model for the time, super lightweight and extremely aero. Campagnolo Pista pedals and thick Errebi straps, with size M black aluminium cages from BRC.

We’ve set the bike up according to our taste, with a view to preserving the classic look and style. In saying that, if you would like to make some small changes (saddle, bar tape etc), then often this is possible. We have a large inventory of classic components acquired over the last 13 years and are happy to do our best to accommodate any request.
