Professional De Rosa road bicycle, outfitted with pre-CPSC Campagnolo Super/Nuovo Record groupset. This was a display model from a small Italian bike shop. It would seem to be a 1977-78 model, based on the decals, which are in terrific condition. Very nice metallic black paint. Made from Columbus SL steel with De Rosa’s trademark diamond chain stays and flat fork crown.
First generation Super Record rear derailleur, dated 1977. Custom drilled front derailleur with extra holes and thinned seat tube clamp. Shifters have also been expertly thinned and drilled. 1978 Super Record crankset, 170mm with original De Rosa pantographed large chainring. 42cm 3ttt Superleggero handlebar, Gimondi bend, with De Rosa panto 115mm 3ttt stem. Nuovo Record brake levers, unscratched, with fresh black hoods to suit the rest of the bike. Campagnolo Record hubs, laced to hard anodised Ambrosio Montreal tubular rims, in virtually unridden condition. Straight Camapagnolo quick releases. Tyres are new Challenge Paris-Roubaix Pro, 27mm (perfect for the gravel of L’Eroica). 6 speed freewheel with new Regina chain. 27.2mm two-bolt fluted Campagnolo seat post, topped with a 3ttt black suede saddle, in excellent condition with no rips or scrapes. Brake and shifter cables are new, recently done. There’s really not much more we could put into this bike to improve it further. It’s already 46 years old, but it still looks brand new!
