The iconic Colnago Master is undoubtedly the evergreen of cycling. Introduced in 1983, five subsequent iterations of the Colnago Master were the top offering until 1998 (Master 1983, Master Pi 1988, Master Olympic 1991, Master Light 1994 and Master X-Light 1998). With this frame, Colnago confidently positioned himself on the summit of steel frame design. The Master also represents the apogee of the steel era in the bicycle industry.
The 1991 Colnago Master Olympic shares with its predecessors the famous crimped tubing, designed by Gilberto Colombo to make the frame stiffer and more reactive. The Olympic was well known for very funky, arabesque paint schemes and especially the famous Art Decor pattern. Group set is the classic Campagnolo Record 8 speed, with a newer 1996 Campagnolo Atlanta rims and Record hubs. Aero seat post matches the group set, and it is topped with a classic ’90s San Marco saddle. The cockpit is comprised of a classic short 3ttt stem with matching 40cm handlebars.
The bike was assembled by us in our Berlin workshop, where will undergo the standard final inspection before shipping. Cables, chain and bar tape are new. The bike is in good working order, and there are no technical issues. No cracks, bends or dents. We’ve set the bike up according to our taste, with a view to preserving the classic look and style. However, if you would like to make some small changes (saddle, bar tape etc), more often than not this is quite possible. We have a large inventory of classic components acquired over the last 15 years.
