This is a Cinelli Supercorsa, in racing red with black pinstripes and lettering. It is equipped with a nice Campagnolo Record groupset, and of course it has a Cinelli drop handlebar and quill stem. The crank arms and spider have been detailed in black enamel, and the same treatment has been applied to the short flutes of the Campagnolo seat post. The bicycle rolls on low flange Record hubs laced to Mavic hard grey anodised rims, shod with Wolber Racing pale sidewall tyres. It is quite the looker, always drawing positive remarks from people appreciate the fine Italian craftsmanship. A red Supercorsa, like a red Ferrari, is a bold statement.
This bike shows various signs of having been ridden before it came into our keeping. It wears its battle scars with pride. This is the original paintwork and decals, including the little Cinelli logo buttons at the top of both seat stays, now somewhat yellowed through age. The bright red paint has unfortunately taken a few knocks. There is one fairly sizeable area at the rear drive side of the top tube , about the size of a postage stamp, where the paint has been chipped off. This patch has been retouched with red enamel, as have most of the other less sizeable scuffs and scrapes. Despite the wear and tear it has suffered, this Supercorsa remains a delight to ride, as one would expect of a thoroughbred racer made from light weight Columbus SPX tubes. The deep sided Selle Italia saddle is a comfortable place to sit on those fast rides to your favourite Italian café for an Espresso and some Grappa.
