Here we have a tidy example of a nicely understated ’80s De Rosa road racer, which came into our possession already assembled with this ensemble of some of the best components available at that time.
The steel frame still wears its original metallic silver paint, which is in overall very nicely preserved condition, with only a very few minor scuffs and scratches.
All the dark blue and white outlined De Rosa decals are still completely intact.
The chrome plated rear triangle features the De Rosa name engraved on the upper surfaces of the chain stays.
The frame is still paired with the correct chrome plated curved De Rosa fork, with the double heart motif engraved on the semi sloping crown.
A frame and fork of this high pedigree was never intended to be fitted out with anything other than the best components.
It comes with the same group set of Campagnolo Record components which was specified by the original discerning owner.
The stand out feature of this stylish gruppo are the pair of Delta brakes, which provide nicely modulated braking as well as making a distinctive visual statement.
The aerodynamic theme is continued with the 3ttt stem, which has been pantographed with the signature of Ugo de Rosa on either side, and still retains the decorative button on the stem bolt.
It is paired with matching 3ttt Superleggero team drop bars, wrapped in fresh black perforated tape which conceals the brake cables.
An aerodymacially shaped Campagnolo Record seat post is topped off with a comfortable Selle Italia Turbo saddle.
This is a new old stock saddle with intact decals, and no scuffing or discolouration to the black leather.
The wheel set consists of small flange Record 32 hole hubs, laced with double butted stainless spokes to a pair of silver anodised low profile ‘Aero Supreme’ italian clincher rims. We have fitted a pair of Vittoria Revolution KXS reversible tyres, with the wet weather diamond and herringbone tread outermost.
It is also possible to flip these dual compound tyres inside out, which reveals their slick side, for even less rolling resistance.
