Fausto Coppi Campionissimo Frame-set 47.5 cm – Yellow
What this diminutive Fausto Coppi road racing frame and fork from Masciaghi Reparto Corse lacks in stature, it makes up for with plenty of character. Just look at that absolutely glorious bright yellow paintwork with vibrant green lettering! Almost immaculate, but for the tiniest of unfortunate paint chips on the non drive side seat stay adjacent the brake bridge, which we have retouched, and a small flake of paint missing from the chrome plated drive side rear drop out. Over all, we would award this frame set 99 out of a hundred points for appearance. These minimal and frankly inconsequential paint scrapes have sadly occurred during storage, this frame and fork having never been assembled and ridden. That’s right, it is indeed a virgin item, yet to actually turn a wheel.
The frame features internal routing for the rear brake cable, a braze on front derailleur mounting bracket, and provision for two water bottle cages. The drive side chain stay is chrome plated. There are no adjustment screws in the rear drop outs, which are of such short reach that wheelbase adjustment is not really possible. The matching raked fork, with exposed chrome plating on the lower half, features a curvaceous fork crown with circular engraved branding.
High time that somebody equips this delightful ‘new old stock’ frame and fork with a suitable selection of Italian components and takes it out for fast rides in the bright summer sunshine, we reckon.
