De Rosa Primato EL – Sapphire Blue Frame set 55.5 cm
Here we have a nice example of a De Rosa ‘Primato’ lugged steel road frame and forks. It is constructed with Columbus EL tubing, which is oversized.
The bottom bracket casting includes distinctive external webbing to increase the rigidity of the frame even further.
The frame is finished in a lovely shade of ‘Sapphire Blue’, and sports white decals which include fine white pinstripes on the three main tubes. It is paired with a fully chrome plated raked fork with a nice sloping crown. Engraved on the sides with the De Rosa name and topped with a red heart on either side of the crown.
The chain stays have a diamond shape in cross section. The drive side chain stay is chrome plated. Both the frame and the fork drop outs are engraved with the De Rosa name.
The sprung wheelbase adjusters on the rear drop outs are intact and functional. There is a braze on front derailleur mount and provision for one water bottle on the down tube.
This frame and fork are in very nice condition indeed, with no dents or dings, and only some truly very minor scuffs and scratches to the paint.
We particularly like the decal at the upper rear of the seat tube, depicting a single red rose, and the proud statement that this high pedigree frame and fork were “Handmade in Italy”.
