ALTEC with an eagle was the company, a small 6-man company in Villeurbanne in the Rhone Valley, which were made in the mid 80s and very similar to the company TVT & Vitus
racing frames. At first glance, ALTEC frames also have an astonishing resemblance to TVT, both of them also use the Pechiney tubes and the aluminium lugs, which were manufactured by CLB. ALTEC itself was a finer manufacture or Formula 1 style, the rear stays were placed around the lug like an ALAN and the transition of the tubes into the sleeves were not straight but
Due to a personal connection between the two leading Bosses from ALTEC and TVT the frames look almost the same.
The tubing was exactly the same. The differences overall is very marginal. In the late 80s there was also a version at ALTEC in which the 3 main tubes were replaced by carbon tubes manufactured by TCT (mother of TVT).
For the other background of the frame – Equipo BH Sport which was a Spanish professional cycling team that started in the 80s as ZOR-BH and later BH Sport and in its last year in 1989 as BH-Amaya and others. They participated in Tour de France and especially in the Vuelta Espana. 1987 was a very successful season for the team as Federico Echave and Anselmo Fuerte the team landed to a double victory at TdF in the epic stage on top of Alpe d’Huez. Incidentally the first Spanish stage winner in the alps. Ernesto Delgado at PDM back then completed the purely Spanish podium. Fuerte was overall 8th. In the Tour and the Mountain classification BH Sport was behind the Colombians of Cafe de Columbia. Other protagonists of this team that were known beyond Spain were the Spanish mountain goats Alvaro Pino (won the Vuelta in 1986 with ZOR-BH) and Laudelino Cubino. The whole team was a specialized climbing team. This particular listing is for a rare team frame-set, one of the first carbon fibre frame at all – Altec Carbone, BH Sport edition. This frame is still new and never ridden. It was a spare frame for the team. The carbon fibre frames were considered as not stiff enough back then and were only used for mountain stages.
