Complete Pinarello road bike, with a feather light wheelset. Painted in an elegant white, with blue logos.
Giovanni Pinarello, born in 1922, was one of the whole generation of riders from child rich families who chose a career in cycling. In the era of Coppi, Bartali and Bobet, he was quite a successful amateur rider with loads of won races which eventually earned him a contract as professional rider. The year of 1953 then saw him making his dream come true – by using money which he got as a compensation for handing over his Giro d’Italia starting place for the setup of a bicycle shop and manufacture in his hometown Treviso.
From then on Pinarello bikes became more and more famous and refined. In 1975 the company finally achieved its first Giro d’Italia victory. And today Pinarello is THE brand with the most Grand Tour & Tour de France wins!
Released in 1993 as successor of the Montello, the Pinarello Gavia was the 1990s top model manufactured by the Italian brand from Treviso. It was named after the legendary climb Gavia in the Dolomites. As stated on 1993 catalog, Pinarello wanted to offer a racing bicycle that was more comfortable due to the more relaxed seat tube. The model Gavia was built with Columbus TSX or FRX tubing, lighter than SLX and more suitable for long-distance races or rides. The idea of the model was to offer the client a top end racing bike with a slightly more relaxed geometry. The FRX tubeset was made especially by Columbus for Pinarello.
The bike is built up with a Campagnolo Chorus groupset with an exception of Campagnolo Record headset, a combination of 3ttt stem and 3ttt classic round handlebars.Set up with 7 speed, nice and light wheelset with Marchisio hubs and blue anodised Ambrosio Eolic rims.
