Description

Lugged steel road frame a fork from storied Italian manufacturer Pinarello. This ‘Olé’ frameset dates from the latter 1990s. The cromo tubing, called ‘Arché’, was specially produced for Pinarello. The frame and fork are finished in lustrous deep ultramarine blue paint with white lettering and subtle fading white, pink and yellow graphics. There are a few very small chips here and there, but these are only small blemishes, and overall the frameset makes a terrific impression.

Whilst this is only speculation on our part, we think it very likely that the accent colours of the arrow decals and the ‘Olé’ name on the top tube are in reference to the Banesto professional team, who had achieved a succession of significant sporting victories in the first half of the ‘90s.
In Spanish, Olé translates to “Bravo!”. The domination of legendary Spanish racing cyclist Miguel Indurain was certainly worthy of a “Bravo!”, as was the regularity with which Pinarello bicycles were ridden to major Tour wins during the ‘90s and ever since. Speculating still further, we think it very likely that the quirky graphic motif at the front of the top tube is the work of famous frame builder and custom painter Dario Pegoretti, who was working for Pinarello at the time.

Once it is adorned with the right selection of age appropriate components this vintage steel frameset will make for a very stylish, light and nimble racing bicycle, with a very high pedigree indeed. Quite a find, as there surely can’t be all that many of these left in this virtually unblemished condition.
