Description

Road racing bicycle by legendary Italian bike racer Marcello Osler. Osler was an important lead-out man for Roger De Vlaeminck on the highly successful Brooklyn team. Later he went on duty for Francesco Moser. After his successful career as a professional cyclist came to an end he started a bicycle shop close to Trento, where he stocked only the best bikes of the golden era, the top offering being his own ‘Osler’ branded machines. His frames were famous for their light weight and sophisticated details. This bicycle weighs a mere 8.6kg without the pedals! The head tube, fork crown, seat stays and BB-shell are pantographed with the Osler name. The bottom bracket shell is marked with “Formula 1″, which suits the approach that Osler took to producing his pro bicycles.

This particular machine is in first class condition. The frame is soldered from high quality Columbus SL (SuperLeggero) tubes, and fitted with Campagnolo dropouts. The rear drop out has the Portacatena threading. The bicycle very much represents the best of the time period, displaying beautiful craftsmanship. To suit this high level of achievement this machine comes equipped with a complete Campagnolo Super Record custom group set. Campagnolo Record hubs have been polished, re-greased and laced to a pair of silver Fiamme Ergal tubular rims. The black leather saddle comes from the Italian manufacturer Selle San Marco, producer of top quality components that remain extremely sought-after to this day. The Supercorsa Concor saddles are in our opinion one of the best formed Classic saddles out there. We decided to mount a black Cinelli stem, with black painted flutes and black anodised chainrings.

Overall the bike is in great condition, showing little signs of use. All components are in excellent working order. There are a few minor scrapes to the paint that appear to be from storage rather than abuse. No dents or cracks. Tyres, cables bar tape are new. Wheel set can be exchanged for an equivalent set of clinchers if you prefer. We’ve set the bike up according to our taste, with a view to preserving the classic look and style. In saying that, if you would like to make some small changes (saddle, bar tape etc), then this is possible. We have a large inventory of classic components acquired over the last 15 years and are happy to do our best to accommodate any request.
