Description

Eddy Merckx pursuit / crono / time trial frame set, measuring 59cm c-c up the seat tube. Made from cutting edge Columbus MAX tubing, with the unique MAX lugs on show. MAX tubing was notable for its bi-ovalised form, the tubes having been gently crimped horizontally at one end, and vertically at the other, in addition to being very thin walled yet still stiff. It was regarded as a great tube set for taller riders, although of course everyone can enjoy its qualities! Building a MAX bike takes a great deal of skill, and this Eddy Merckx is a great example of the correct way to do it. Ex-team bike, with the serial sticker on the top tube! 130mm rear spacing, perfect for building up with a mid-’90s Campagnolo Ergopower group set. This frame is designed to take a 622 rear wheel and 571 front wheel – sloping top tube to get your head down low! In good, used condition. Has several small chips to the paint, and a very minor but visible dent on the top tube. Includes Suntour headset, which is in excellent condition.
