Description

Nicely preserved 1974 Colnago Super road bike, complete with a Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset from 1976-77, rare 3ttt #10 lightweight saddle, and some custom pantographed components that we have had especially produced. Paint and decals are all original. Few bicycles have influenced the cycling scene as much as the Colnago Super. At a time when racing bicycles were fairly heavy, with long wheelbases, Ernesto Colnago released the ‘Super’, which would become a staple of his 1970s and 1980s catalogues. Made of Columbus SL steel tubes, with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame, it was was designed for high performance. Since its debut, innumerable racing bicycles have been built with the same basic geometry, which should be viewed as high praise indeed.

The bike is in remarkable condition for its age (1974), having only seen a little use. Included are a selection of pantographed components, 3ttt bar and stem and Campagnolo Super Record Panto seat post. The rest of the group set is Campagnolo Nuovo Record. The skin rubber brake hoods are reproductions, but in top condition. Brake and shifter cables are both new. Saddle is an original and highly sough after 3ttt #10 wrapped in leather, which nicely compliments the age and style of the bike. Headset is as original, as the other Campagnolo Record components.

Finished in an elegant blue with yellow decals, the paint is still in good condition with only a few small scratches and chips. Some light scratches of the top tube. All chrome is bright and intact. The wheel set features a pair of low-flange Campagnolo Record hubs laced to silver anodised Martano tubular rims, 32 front / 32 rear, shod with rare German Semperit tubulars. It is also possible to exchange the wheels for a similar set of clincher rims if you prefer, just let us know your preference and we can lace something for you. All in all, a top quality, professional grade racing bike with no dents, cracks, rust or any other problems. This bike most certainly meets the entry requirements for any L’Eroica-style event.
