Colnago Master Red – Road Bike
Here we have a diminutive Colnago Master road racing bicycle for a compact sporting cyclist.

The frame is constructed from specially commissioned Columbus S4 Gilco Design tubing, the main tubes being quadruple crimped to increase rigidity. At the front the head lugs are finished in bright chrome, making a distinctive feature of the triple pointed Colnago lugs. The frame is finished in a bright racing red, and adorned with white decals, the lettering finished with black outlines.

It is paired with the correct original fully chrome plated Colnago fork with a sloping crown. The fork rake makes for better absorption of uneven surfaces, thus reducing rider fatigue. This makes the bike very comfortable to ride over long distances. The threaded Campagnolo Record headset has been mounted with a few spacers, one thick and two thin, affording the next owner with the option of shortening the fork steerer tube if so desired.

The frame is in terrific condition, with only a very few blemishes to the paint and age related decay to one or two decals at their edges, testament to it having been well cared for by the original owner. We strongly suspect that this bike was never raced, but most likely ridden only on sunny Sundays!

This Master is adorned with a mixed selection of Campagnolo components, both Record and Chorus. We have replaced the worn chainrings with a pair of black anodised Horus rings by renowned French manufacturer Specialities TA, pairing a 39 tooth inner ring with a 53 tooth outer, and of course retaining the original Brev. Campagnolo engraved chainring bolts.

As well as providing a nice spread of gear ratios in combination with the eight speed cassette, odd numbered chainrings are just much cooler! The next owner will sit upon an immaculate Selle Italia Flite saddle mounted on an aero Chorus seat post, and grip 3ttt ergo drop bars held by a matching black anodised 3tt aero stem, pantographed with Ernesto Colnago’s signature on each side, and the triple club Colnago logo to the fore.

Braking and gear selection is achieved with a tidy, unscratched (!!) pair of first generation Ergopower levers. 32 hole Chorus hubs are laced to new dark anodised aero low flange rims, shod with Continental Grand Sport race tyres. Una macchina straordinaria per un veloce giro in bicicletta domenicale!
