Description

Magni ‘Exklusiv’ Italcicli ICS complete road bicycle, built up around 1984-85 with the top components of the time. I believe this was assembled by renowned German engineer and avid cyclist Hans-Christian Smolik – as this bike came to us together with two others that were definitively built by him. The three share some distinctive custom components such as the handmade rear hub with titanium skewer.

Frameset was built by Giovanni Losa specifically for ICS from Columbus SL tubing and his trademark three-pointed lugs, then fully chromed, painted pearl white and Cromovelato gold (tinted clear coat over double chrome). Aero seat tube, to get the rear wheel right in behind the crankset.

Campagnolo Super Record front and rear derailleurs, modified and tuned by cult Swiss masters ICS. Friction down tube shifters are chromed aluminium with black rubber inserts, mounted just about the down tube in a time-trial style. Internal shifter cables run through the bottom bracket shell, the rear popping out at the end of the chain stay. Custom ICS ‘3D’ rear derailleur, based on the iconic Campagnolo Super Record. Likewise the front derailleur, with the integrated chain catcher.

Custom rear hub, 32 holes. Radially spoked on the non-drive side, and three-cross on the drive side. Radially-spoked, 28 hole Campagnolo Record front hub. Both hubs laced to blue-anodised Mavic SSC rims, in excellent condition, virtually unridden. NOS aluminium 7-speed Regina America screw-on freewheel, black anodised. Original Sedis chain.

Custom Campagnolo Super Record levers, modified to an ‘aero’ style with the cables running inside the handlebar. Aluminium Cinelli 1R stem engraved with the original owner’s name, chromed at ICS with aluminium bolt, and paired with Cinelli Giro d’Italia 66-40 handlebar. Original navy blue Almarc leather bar wrap. Aluminium Campagnolo Super Record headset.

Campagnolo Super Record seat post with polished head and white painted flutes, matched with navy blue leather Selle San Marco Concor Profil saddle. Complete with original ‘aero’ water bottle and holder, and the lead seal issued when the bicycle was originally purchased in Switzerland. Very rare and collectable bicycle, these are almost impossible to find in this condition these days!

We’ve set the bike up according to our taste, with a view to preserving the classic look and style. In saying that, if you would like to make some small changes (saddle, bar tape etc), then often this is possible. We have a large inventory of classic components acquired over the last 15 years and are happy to do our best to accommodate any request.
